Arc Angels take over the Aztec Theater in San Antonio 1-20

Austin's own blues-rock supergroup the Arc Angels started their short but sweet Texas tour in San Antonio's historic Aztec Theater Thursday. This would be the first time they have toured in nearly 10 years.

The Angeles formed in Austin Texas in the '90s, featuring- guitarists Charlie Sexton and Doyle Bramhall II, Double Trouble, Stevie Ray Vaughan’s rhythm section of drummer Chris Layton, and bassist Tommy Shannon. Unfortunately, Tommy is not out on this short tour but, bassist Eric Holden will be holding down the low end in his place.

The Texas Gentlemen would open up the show with a fantastic set of soul, southern rock, gospel, progressive, groovy mixture of guitar-driven soulful music.

The Arc Angels played a generous 1 1/2 hour set covering just about everything you would expect and want to hear from the Austin blues legends. It was really cool to see Charlie and Doyle enjoying the moments of performing together once again. At the end of this short run, the tour wraps up in Austin with the "Concerts 4 Austin Charities" benefit at ACL Live on Jan. 24th.
